Bought an used block with supposed 3k miles, seeing some light scoring on the cylinder sleeves and then it seems to have some damage on the ridge of the #2 main journal.
take a look at the first few pics of #2 main vs #5 main
thoughts on if it’s thrust damage or spun bearing?
If I had to guess, it sure looks like spun bearings as the locating lugs/caps of the bearing has scared the journals. #2 looks pretty needy and deep. Needs to see a reputable machine shop and see if they can line hone then line bore the mains. They may not be able to remove all of it on #2. You will then have to run a +1 oversized bearing.
That looks more like someone sanded them to me. I've heard of doing it to tweak the size slightly vs getting another set of bearings. No idea how it works longevity wise, etc.
The scratches look too random to me to be caused by the crank to me. They would be pretty straight line scratches if caused by the crank dragging or whatever. These look like sanding marks
But I'm no engine builder
