Not that I know of. The guy building my motor uses them on all his 5.3 builds.

Honestly for 800 whp just use a sbe gen 4 5.3 with around $1000 in parts and boom done.

Total cost of motor $1500 ish

If it breaks you have several more chances left. But generally if you do not have an external failure that would have also taken out a built bottom end you should be good.

I wouldn’t mind that but jaywww blew his sbe so I’m kind of on the rod and piston side I can grab a refreshed ls3 with cam springs and lifters and pushrod long block for around 4500

Not worried about the price of breaking a motor at 1500$ just replacing it every 3-5k miles would suck

Also a 1048 LH6 5.3 works great as well. Gen 4 of course. No need to spend a ton on an LS3 block. Jay's build is all one needs for big power.

I picked this one up cheap and they can be had for $400-$500.

If mine ever blows I'm doing something like this, no point in putting a built one in unless you're going to a big boy blower

I do head gaskets, lifters, springs (unless i already have springs from another motor), bushings in the rockers (again transfer from another motor if you already have them), and gap the old rings.

Stuff can break no matter what. I broke my sbe 5.3 quickly but if it was a $15,000 motor it wouldnt have mattered it would have broken there was a fueling issue that i saw signs of and ignored.

Local guy traps 170s in the 1/4th and 150s in the 1/8th on a sbe 5.3. If he can do that there isnt any reason we cant keep a gen 4 sbe motor together at 1/2 the power with good planning.

This can also be said for SBE LS3, jsut not those numbers. SBE LS3 with a good tuner will hold 900-1000. Example my car and Detoxx, plus manyyyy others.
