cam swap

middle of doing a cam swap and found my timing chain tensioner had broke. The new cam is converting to a 3 bolt sprocket and the kit came with a spacer that goes between where the old tensioner goes? does this new piece take the place of the old tensioner?

Yes, that’s an LS2 type timing chain “tensioner” which is more durable that the later model spring tensioners.
