Default LS7 Advice

Hope everyone is well,

Im going through a few things with my C6z and wanted to get some advice.

My Z went in for a Heads, Cam, Manifold, exhaust install, and a few more supporting mods. At the time of pulling the Cam out, they identified the cam bearings showed enough copper that it may be of concern. Upon further inspection, the cam bearings on the top side were scored. The conversation is now to send block to machining and balancing, do main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, and do mahle 5 over pistons with rings gapped for nitrous.

The first question I have is that im being quoted right around $5k in parts and labor for this shortblock rebuild, does this sound reasonable?

The second, I understand the LS7 flaw with cylinder walls, that being said what are the chances I have an issue with a 200-300 wet shot? I know all comes down to the tuning and how often this is sprayed. This is something that wouldnt be done too often, but when some extra fun is needed.

A bit of background on the car, I purchased the car about ~2 years ago with 8k miles and entirely stock. I am the second owner, and it is now at just around 20k on mileage. I plan to do an LSX or LSR block in the future and go FI.

Any and all advice is welcomed.

Nothing wrong with the liners at all, typical forum fake news bs. I’ve been north of 1k at the flywheel for 5 years and 2 years at 1k+ whp. Get a very good progressive kit and a tuner who’s familiar. Let that bitch eat.

If it was my car, I would just have the cam bearings replaced when you do the upgrade. Doesn't sound like you need a full rebuild.
