Default Detect protocol failed ?

I am trying to read my tune with my hptuners and it keeps coming up and saying detect protocol failed. The entire engine is tore down could this be the reason? All the sensors are disconnected in the engine bay as I'm doing a head/cam swap.

Through a google search I've read that you need to click "gather info" and un-click "use highspeed".

Well after putting the motor back together and trying it again everything worked as it's suppose to. I'm assuming there were just to many loose connections/grounds.
