Octane Booster
Can I put an Octane booster additive to the fuel? what brand is recommended?
We filled the tank with regular unleaded ..... half tank , so now we are getting engine ping & hesitation.
or should it be drained.... this don't look like easy access thou.
suggestions ?

Most of the fuel additives are junk. From a pile of research I did on this, Torco is definitely a good product, though more expensive and capable than I was looking for. I settled on Lucas Octane Booster (LOB), as it will raise the octane of the gas a full 30 points, which translates to a boost of +3. A single bottle is good for up to 25 gallons, though I'm usually closer to half to a bit more than half of that at fuel fill-up. West of the Mississippi, 91 octane is the best we have at most stations, and some don't even have that. So, I figure 91 from a good station plus a bottle of LOB for each fill should get me to 93 reliably, which is what my car is tuned for. No issues since adding it - but plenty of power, from upgrades and tuning, not the bit of octane boost.
Note: I get LOB as a case of 12 bottles for $78 and I figure this will last me about a year, so a pretty low price to pay for a couple of extra octane levels. I'm using a CAI that gives me ambient to very near ambient AIT, LT headers, and some other odds and ends. Fun car to drive, soon to head to the dyno to see where I'm at, relative to before the additions.
