Default 2005 Corvette - P0430 message

I have been getting the P0430 code for awhile now. It seems to happen every morning after the car is warmed up. It always happens while at a stop light and idling.

I have kept track of the freeze frame data and a few things pop out to me...so I'm hoping that folks on the forum can help out (I have 9 days/occurrences of data so far).

My main question is this: It always happens when waiting at a light...freeze frame data shows that the computer is in an open loop every time. I thought that when in open loop, the data from the O2 sensors is not being used.

Could this indicate something other than a bad cat/O2 sensor?

The only mod is from the previous owner. They installed Corsa exhaust. But, this is a new error code and I've owned the car for over 3 years now.

I am also thinking about upgrading to a better scanner that can show me real-time data, particularly with the O2 sensors.

I'd replace all O2 sensors first and see if that fixes it, if not then yeah cat is probably going bad

And yeah "open loop" means it isn't using the O2 sensors but that could have been because it thought something was going wrong with them..

Can you explain that further? You mean, maybe thought something wrong with sensors so went back to OL?

Typically you would swap sensors left to right, reset things and see if the problem comes back on the same side or moves to the other. If it moves to the other, it's a bad sensor.

There's not much to explain.. yes, if it thinks the O2 sensors are no good then it won't use them, thus the code and the switch to open loop. No idea if that is what is actually happening, but it seems plausible.

Or could be the cat is actually bad.. could try swapping O2's from side to side like other posted suggested. I personally would just replace them vs. having to possibly mess with them twice

Thanks! I'm going to replace them this weekend and see if that does it!
