ECM Replacement procedure.
I have a 2005 C6 that most likely going to need the ECM replaced.
So the question is, once I get the new one in hand what do I need to do
aside from physically installing it?
I have done a bit of reading but the more I read the less clear it becomes. One guy says one thing another something else.
I have a Tech 2 (clone).
Does it need to be flashed?
If so can I do it through the Tech 2?
Or do i just install it and relearn the crank sensor?
Does anyone know where I can find the actual install procedure in writing?
Or just someone who has done it.

Module Programming
A basic GM Tech 2 itself cannot program or reprogram individual modules like the ECM or BCM. Specific software files are required to be loaded, as is a way to transfer that software to the vehicle module via the OBD II port. There are several ways to do this, one of which is to use the Tech 2 as a pass-through device, another of which is to first download the software to the Tech 2 and then transfer it to the vehicle. The Tech 2 user instructions discuss connections to the terminal that contains the necessary software (e.g., dealer techs connect via their own network, others may subscribe to a service to obtain the information).
Specific written instructions for programming modules such as the ECM and BCM are contained in the Service Manual for the vehicle. These instructions typically assume that the technician has working knowledge of how to set up, connect and download the required programming features. A good place to start for specific module programming instructions in the service manual would be the section on Vehicle Control Systems.
