Default MAP sensor question

We just discovered that the MAP sensor in my previous ProCharged LS2 was a 1bar sensor. I replaced the stock sensor ( 8 years ago ) with what my local dealer said was a 3 Bar sensor. Anyway, my new build, and new tuner, tells me the current sensor IS a 1bar and we will need a 3 Bar.
Here’s my delemia. The location of the sensor is on the bottom of my new sheet metal intake manifold and requires its removal to install the new sensor. I want to do the R&R of the manifold/sensor at home in my garage, then drive the car to my tuner. One of the mechanics at the garage warned me that the car will not run with the 3 bar sensor, as it was temporarily tuned with the 1 bar in place.
I wonder if this is true, ..... or is the mechanic just looking for a few $$$ to R&R the intake at the garage?

Will a car tuned with a 1bar MAP run satisfactory with a 3 bar in place just to drive it 20miles to my tuner?

Thanks for the input.

No it won't run like that. It needs the right parameters in the tune.
