I have a clone to use on my 2013 z, currently in limp mode due to me messing around with swps disconnect & running with no tp sensors. Those are other threads, look if you wish to see what I did.
LSS I am needing some tips on using the tech2 clone.
I have one now does not pass the 2 basic self tests either it's broken or it did not include the proper loopback connections (rs232) and the other one on the main cable.
Automated main PCB and VCI self tests. Not passing.
Noob on this sub forum.
So I really don't want to proceed until I have a tool the self tests ok.
I ordered another clone to try. Please don't make this into a thread about "buy the real one", ok?
Summary: Need suggestion on any tech2 forum outside of CF to help with the tool, or is here ok?

What do I want to know , if it does not pass the self test something is wrong with it ... it's a basic tool , hook it up , press power , it runs the tests , then it prompts for year , make model trans type ... then it takes u to the menus....had a knockoff for 3 years , worked perfect...u do have the Candi module right?

Yes, today I hooked it up right to pass self test. I am self teaching, there are no directions, just a bare clone tool and some cables & plugs. Yes I have the candi module.

If there was a CD with it, there is a user manual in there somewhere to look at. If not, google GM Tech 2 instruction manual & there will be multiple hits with .pdf manuals you can look at. Some pretty good info in there.
Hey Froggy,I have a bookmarked link from this forum on my home PC. It has the guide that I used to get my Tech II clone up and running. I'll do my best to find it for you this evening.
I found a cd that has how to plug together, self test, abbreviations in the back. That it? About 100 pgs?
I do have that, but I'm looking for a post that a member wrote. It was fairly detailed and specific to the C6... that's where I found the most value. I'm pretty sure I have it at home.

Thanks if you can find anything that will help. I was able to hook it up w/ candi and enter the car & look at all the dtc's. I was able to reset them & drive the car. Found 1 bad ign wire #6 and fixed. Probably could have done that w/out the scanner haha.
It's a decent tool & would like help/info if you find it.

Yeah, sounds like it. Shows how to hook up, self test, what the adapters are (with their part numbers), a bit on programming with it, a lot of screenshots, good menu tree of the various systems, etc. A good start at least to see what the basics of the tool are.

Nice, thanks, I like to print them out and put on the bench or in the car as I learn the tool. I am a quicker page flipper than keyboard typer, and I can't write notes on my laptop screen. Well I guess I COULD, but...
