Gentlemen, I have my eye on a C6 being auctioned. The problem is that the VIN is missing according to the auction description. Now the physical Vin is printed on a plate on the corner of the dashboard under the windshield. Any other place?
But, also, using a OBDII diagnostic scanner the "electronic" VIN will be displayed on the scanner too, Correct?
I want to confirm the presence of the electronic VIN before I get into a "nightmare" vehicle that I cannot register.!
WHERE is it missing from ??…other than by the windshield it is on the RPO code sticker in the glovebox and on the tire loading placard when you open the drivers door…also on the Emissions sticker under the hood…yes, scan tool can automatically read the VIN number.
I would not suspect it was stolen especially if they have the Pink Slip
Sounds like to me at some earlier time someone replaced the ECM and that is why the VIN may not match the door/underhood stiicker
Anyone with EFILIVE or HP Tuners CAN input the correct VIN # into the ECM so they match the vehicle
