Default Jacks

A quick question on jacks. I can't seem to locate one low enough to use with the pucks. Is there a brand most use? I did find a 3.75 low clearance one but the puck adds an inch and that's a 1/4 more than the clearance. Maybe I need to raise the car? Hope not.

Default Check costco

Costco has an aluminum jack that fits under my C6 at the jacking points. It's like a nascar jack. $135.00. weighs 43 lbs.

Sears sells a 1-1/2 ton aluminum racing jack for $119.99 that works but Pep Boys has a flyer out this week with essentially the same jack (both made in China, go figure) for $69.99 - same profile. I've got the Sears and picked up the Pep Boys today so I can lift both sides. The Sears works with the pucks and I don't see why the Pep Boys won't also (I think their probably the same jack).

Default Jacks

Today I bought two aluminum racing jacks for $140.00 at Pep Boy's! They must have been assembled by 10 year olds. Talk about cheap labor

Do you have lift pads for the C6? I have not been able to find any?

Harbor Freight sells one branded "US General" (Harbor Freight brand for a Chinese jack). Sears, Pep Boys, etc also sell the same thing under their own brand names. Prices vary between $69 and $130, same jack, so shop around. Works fine.

Yes, the Harbor Freight jack appears to be the exact same one as the new Pep Boys (similar pricing as well) version, very light jacks too.

I've been looking for a low profile jack as well and came across this comparison information, for what it's worth:

Cliff apparently wasn't aware that HF also sells the heavier duty jack, normally for between $159 and $179 depending on which sale flyer you get. So if you want to buy the heavier duty jack from them, you can.

I bought the smaller jack, and at least mine seems very well made. The knurling is sharp, the fit of the parts is good, the anodizing is good, etc. When I took mine out of the box, it would barely lift, and only at the end of the stroke. A quick look at the instructions and I noted that the air bleed valve was open. I bled the jack as per instructions, closed the (nicely knurled) air bleed, and the jack works just fine.

Good point. It appears he's not comparing apples to apples, more the light duty Harbor versus the heavy duty Sears. Thank you for the info on your jack, it helps with my decision.
