I imagine popping the clutch is going to make it spin. I quickly eased it into 1st the other day and hammered it and it ran perfect. Need a track to get time differences between doing that and launching it higher RPM's while feathering it.

Our very own Ranger (who run's high 11's in a bone stock Z06) has published launch tips many times. Here's his most recent post. We could all learn from him.

How about in the A4's? I'm still working on it here, but have not perfected the launch.

Well, I've not yet taken my C6 to the track though I
hope to do so in 2 weeks but I am definitely interested
in launch techniques so I tried a few experiments
today on a lonely, deserted and private road.

I tried several launches, w/traction control off.
I released the clutch quickly, but not sidestepping it.
At the same time I quickly went to WOT but didn't
just stab the peddle. I tried to to rapidly ease in to
it.

A 2000rpm launch just annihiliated my rear tires. The
car went sideways and the tach hit 5500 rpm before
I let off the gas. I left a plume of blue smoke and two
big, black strips. Oops.

I then tried the same thing at 1500 rpm and the tires
spun for about 6 feet before it dug in and was off.

I can see it's not that easy to do a great launch. The
difference between wild wheelspin and a good launch
is only a few hundred rpm and some very delicate
clutch and throttle control.

Practice various techniques but realize that surface conditions , temperature, etc. will always factor into what works one time well and not another. You think you have a problem --wait till the 500 hp z06's try to get a good launch.
