Bouncing at 4000 RPM?! (problem)

Hey Guys,

When I am racing my car sometimes it bangs at 4k RPM and doesnt let me go anywhere. Its like I am going off the rev limiter, but im only at 4k.

Does anyone have any kindof clue what would cause this?

The car is an auto for the record

The Followings mods:
Heads
Cam
Stall
Gears
Exhaust

I had an 86 Grand National that may have had a similar problem.
In my case a cracked fuel injector tip was a problem.
Check fuel system, spark plugs.
