Whats wrong with you guys? How can any of you say Dynatechs are great headers with great quality when cars are catching on fire. Very confused you are.
Tommy V posted a pic of WCC LT headers. I believe I have some background/info on these.
The same or very similar system is also sold by ECC, Midamerica, section8 and a couple others. The X-pipe and cats are made by Random Tech and are all stainless. The headers are mild steel but in/out Jet hot coated and made by Melrose in Illinois. They also made systems for the C5 that were very similar so maybe some C5 guys have some info on these. Unfortunately, there is no published dyno testing or independent review that I am aware of, though the guys at Mid america and Random had good things to say about the quality.

A fellow installed the system (section8) and gave it a good write up. It was posted in C6 general but a search did not pull it up for me. Perhaps someone else might have better luck.
Can someone tell me where to find postings with info for the diff. between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 headers. Thanks.
From ZIP:
"1 3/4" primaries are designed for stock or modified Corvettes with air intake systems. 1 7/8" primaries are designed for Corvettes with aftermarket camshaft and heads."

Plus, power normally increases and safety for racers improves with lower temperatures.
The graph shown to the left, developed independently by a major US automobile manufacturer, shows just how effectively JET-HOT Sterling beats heat. The company's engineering team was astounded by temperature reductions exceeding 300°F when JET-HOT Sterling was applied to standard exhaust components. Car Craft also took a cool breath, after measuring temperature reductions of over 60% on header surfaces following the application of JET-HOT."
I had always used the ceramic headers on hot rods, but never knew it was that significant ... thanks for article find ...
I can say they are great headers because I personally observed the products being manufactured and they used MY car to make the fit right.
Due to some bad info from Chevy, the original headers were built for an automatic, and they were made to believe the 6 speed had the same size bellhousing. Thus there was a fitting problem. The product itself is TOP NOTCH and I am one who experienced the earliest problem. How can you bad mouth something you know nothing about except that there was a problem that has been corrected?
I do not work for Dynatech and have every reason to be pissed off about the loss of the use of my car for 3 weeks...........but, my car was being used to make the corrections needed to make everyone else's system better!
I have had NOTHING but compliments on the sound and the looks of the system.
Anyone with the system or thinking about buying it can contact me if they need a first hand opinion of it...........Not from someone making an observation that doesn't know **** about the product!
Devil's advocate here, but the **** we know about the product is that some % of the cars wearing them have caught on fire...GM's fault or not, they don't make or test the aftermarket stuff, so it's the manufacturer's responsibility to make sure it works.
I don't think anyone is bashing you (Pilot) for liking the product, but seriously, an issue may exist (which is a risk with all aftermarket items). It's great Dynatech is addressing the issue, but some proper/longer term testing may have been prudent before releasing the product (given events). It's always a trade-off between quick to market and fully evaluated, the correct mix of which can be a mystery.
I have the Dynatech's on my Magnum, and they are of very high quality...no problems after 3000 miles. Not having seen the C6 product, I have no doubt it too is of high quality, just maybe a little wet behind the ears yet.
theres a few more pics with more damage, but I Think you can get the Idea.
DYNATECH HEADERS Were the Cause of this and are not Accepting Responsibility like they did for the other 2 Corvette owners who had the Same exact Problem with the Same Exact headers but less Damage. IF Insurance would have Covered it,The Car Would be a TOTAL LOSS!

I'd like to hear how many sets of these headers are out there and how many people have had these problems. I've heard people blame a good product too many times when it was really poor installation that caused the problem. I'm not sure what the situation is here, thats why I would like more info. There seem to be others out there that are not having this problem so I'd just like to know what they have done differently.

yes, how many first edition set made into the hands of users or distributors. they just may need to do a recall on the first editions, or at least designate that, seems to be the conclusion, they are intended for automatics and manual trannys require this other part number.
Again, for all of you who are saying they are a great product. Didnt they (Dynatech) have problems with the C5 header hitting steering linkage or the column? Sounds like they are 2 for 2.
Three cars catch fire, but they are a fine company making a fine product???
And somehow GM is getting some blame for this???
I've done aftermaket - big time, on a car 20 years ago. I fried an engine. Bottom line, you go aftermarket and you pay the price if it goes wrong. I never tried to blame anyone or make anyone else pay.
