Default Exhaust question

Hello everyone: I had a quick question I wanted to ask. Installed B&B Route 66 this weekend. Install wasn't too bad thanks to tips on the forum. After install took car for a spin around town. Probably drove it for 40 minutes. Of course I was playing around with the exhaust seeing how it sounds at all rpm ranges. When I put her back in the garage the tips and surrounding car was hot as hell. I know stainless conducts heat but that much heat? Just wondering if anyone else with exhaust mods have noticed any increase in temp. I never checked my factory exhaust after running hard--it too could have been hot like the B&B. Just wondering................

By the way, the Route 66 sounds really nice. Not too lound but definitely nicer to factory. Does drone at 1500 to 1600 rpm but not too bad.

Thanks for any advice.

Scott

I also have the Route 66 with x pipe. It is toasty to the touch after a good drive, but to be honest, I did not check the stock exahust. I now have almost 400 miles on the exhaust and there have been no issues so far. I would not be concerned.

Thanks for the response. Do you like your system. Did you always have the x-pipe on. If you did not always have the x-pipe did it change the sound of the exhaust or did it cut out any of the drone? Thanks again for the response. I really love the color of your car.

I used to cover the car after drives (until I started reading about not covering unclean cars .... ) .. anyway, I have touched both the stock and B&B Bullets .... both were/are hot as hell ....

My GHLs don't seem hotter than the stock tips.

yeeoooowww !!! what you doing ? trying to cook something ?

i though t-304 wasn't supposed to dissipate heat as much ? i was under the impression that it had better heat retention but didn't cost as much.

I added the x-pipe after dealing with excessive drone at cruise in 6th gear, (70-80 mph). The x-pipe eliminated 95% of the resonance in the cabin and it is now easy to have a conversation going down the road. It also elminated the burble on decel and gave the exhaust a more refined tone. I love the appearance and sound, however I am anxious to drive a vert with the GHL to see if there really is no drone or if we all just have a different level of tolerance. I was ready to pull the Route 66 off before adding the x-pipe. Now I love the sound and will likely keep it on.

btw. Thanks for the color comment. I like it too.
