I had Bullets on my C5, and a close friend has them on a C6 convertible, and I have also ridden in another C6 coupe with them. I personally like the sound, but no question that there is a trade-off.
The guy who had the coupe I rode in also had a "painful" experience at certain speeds/rpms. He blames it on a bad ear caused by a lot of hunting (guns). Interestingly, his wife actually liked them, and did not sense the resonance he did (and they are both in the early 50's, as am I).
When I rode with him, at one point, he said "see that, my ears are in pain right now". Don't get me wrong, I could hear the exhaust, but they were not offensive to me (or his wife at that speed, obviously). So, it goes beyond just preference, some peoples hearing is effected differently.
Now, on to a possible fix. I had suggested once that the perfect system might be Bullets with the Corsa "touring" resonator installed in the X pipe (look it up). And I have now been told that B&B may be working on an X pipe with a resonator built into it just for this purpose. I'd call Mike at B&B and ask if they are indeed working on that.
Er... maybe his wife is enjoying a lower frequency harmonic transmitted through the seat? Sorry, couldn't resist.
You get what you paid for, noise, and noise for the sake of noise is a dead end.
All noise is show, but no GO! You want a car that sounds like a 55 chevy with glass packs on, well you got it! And in time you're going to hate it. Why people spend 50,000 for a car then try to make it sound like crap is way passed any rational thinking. Sound fast, how about go fast. If you just want it to sound bad, your a wantabe, if you want to go fast you're a performance enthusiast. You seen to have picked a direction, so enjoy it! An X pipe will not fix your problem in the least.
I have Kooks system with magnaflows, the car sounds awesome, no resonance or cabin noise at all. Plus it goes as good as it sounds 390RWHP helps. just my 2 cents. Have a good day.

, re: performance (what's the point of modding if you don't get perf., just because it makes noise doesn't mean it doesn't have power) i jumped too soon. damn!! should've waited. oh well, lesson learned. i've been looking at a 3" system w/cats in the collectors. dunno though, i really would like a set of hookers but don't know if they'll be making them or not.

Gosh, maybe we do it because we just like it.
What makes us "wantabes"? I have turned a 12.5 at 115 in my "wantabe" car. I guess you think that if I don't go out and spend several thousand dollars to knock a few tenths off that, then I'm not a serious performance guy, right?
Speaking for myself, I've already spent $60K on a weekend car, and another $35K on weekend motorcycles. I also live in a nice house, built a pool a couple of years ago, and try to accomodate my wife's "dreams" (she is very tolerant of what I already spend on my fast toys). Maybe some of us just have different priorities than you do. But that does not mean we are not seriously into performance.

Hey guys to each is own. I'm just responding to James Shearer's orginal post on how loud his car was. He said it was painful. What do you expect, If you look at the B&B bullets, even B&B will tell you there LOUD. looking at them there's nothing to them there a baffle in a pipe. I wouldn't consider jschindler a wantabe, especialy with the motocycle, and other toys you have. This was about his car not yours. I could care less about your house, pool, etc, there not any of my concern, it was about the orginal post! If you take issue with the word wantabe then it's your problem, not any of us on the forum. Stick to the orginal post it's not a personal attack.

Andy, I just re-read your post that I responded to. Here is what I was responding to in your post "If you just want it to sound bad, your a wantabe, if you want to go fast you're a performance enthusiast." I was responding to that on behalf of those of us who like the sound of a louder exhaust, and just don't want to spend any extra money (or compromise reliability and resale value) on aftermarket performance parts.
I don't expect you to care about my pool or other expenses. I was simply making a point that just because some of us elect to spend our money on a variety of things besides more horsepower, that does mean we are not a performance enthusiast. If I mistook your comments, I apologize.
come on guys, I'm waiting for the reply on "cones". I have a post elswhere asking about the resonance issue, but this post is really hopping. We're all in anticipation.
