Saw these on a C5 at a show a couple weeks ago. Looked interesting. Someone made a good point to me at the show. They said, "how do you close those doors when you are sitting in the car?" The point they were making was the door is so high in the air, and you are so low in the car, that it must be rather akward to grab on the door to pull it down and close it.
I am curious what the closing procedure you use is. A partner outside of the car to close them? I string tied to the door to allow you to pull it down?
Not that I am interested in doing it, I am just curious if it is a PITA to get the door closed when it is way up there.
I watched a builder/tuner show on TV where they installed the Lambo-type doors on a C6 for some basketball player. After install, the doors took a tremendous amount of effort to open. The mechanics fabricated a gas strut into the assembly to help lift the door and all was well. On this show, they didn't lose any door functionality.
what i saw recently is the doors open upward in addition to like a regular door. In other words, you open it outward like normal, then if you want to look cool, you can push them upwards. If you choose not to push them up like a lambo door, then they just open like normal.

MSI has installed these. They swing out about 1/3 of their normal range and then tilt up vertically. They come with gas struts included in the kits, so you don't need to engineer your own lifting device. Of the kits that we hve used, we prefer the kits that use two gas struts per door over the units that only have one. It is not dificult to close the door once you are inside.
We are installing another set of them on a 2000 C5 Vert this coming week.

I talked to an installer at Next motorsports and he advised me not to get the vertical doors because of the "plastic/fiberglass" composition of the body.
