Default C6 thinks it's really cold outside

My fairly new C6, 1200 miles on it, thought I needed to have the interior heat running in auto mode the other day when I started it up. The display said the outside air was 59 degrees, which, I'll admit is pretty common around here, but the problem was, it was more like 95 degrees outside and the last thing I wanted was heat. After shutting down the auto mode, and manually activating the A/C, I watched as over the next 5 minutes or so, the outside temp gauge climbed very slowly up to what it actually was outside. Since then, all's been right with the world - at least for this problem. But does anybody know what caused this? Is it common? etc.,

TIA,
Jay

Pages 3-27 and 3-28 of the Owner's Manual.

There is also a sensor located behind the front bumper.
This sensor reads the outside air temperature and
helps to maintain the temperature inside the vehicle.
Any cover on the front of the vehicle could give a false
reading in the temperature.
3-27
If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed
temperature will not change until:
• The vehicle’s speed is above 10 mph (16 km/h)
five minutes.
• The vehicle’s speed is above 32 mph (52 km/h) for
two and a half minutes.
These delays prevent false readings. If the temperature
goes down, the outside temperature will be shown
when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for
less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled
from the previous vehicle operation.

You didn't say if it was cool the night before and it was sitting in a closed garage where it retained the night time temps when you started it up. I don't know where you're from but in Chicago for example, it's not uncommon to be 95 in the day and mid 50's at night.

I frequently get readings about 10 degrees cooler than actual even after driving a while. When this happens, the thermometer seems to set on one specific temperature for several hours??? Next time I get in the car, everything is back to normal???

Default We're similar to Chicago

Here in NEOhio our weather is very similar to Chicago, freeze at night, then bake all day. You know the drill. There isn't a bra or anything on the front, and the C6 has been sitting out most nights while I'm fixing some yard equipment in the garage. It just had never done this sort of thing before. Generally it reads what I think is the right temperature and that usually agrees with the hardware store's sign mounted temperature display down the street.

This just struck me as weird, the first and, so far, only time it's happened.
