When cleaning my rims tonight I noticed one of them has a very small chip/cut on one of the spokes, when I looked a little closer I saw the very outer edge of the brake rotor had a small chip in it too, about an eight of an inch in length in almost a V shape, the depth of the chip in it's deepest point and is about a sixteenth of an inch max. I guess a stone or piece of metal from the road must have gotten hit by the spoke sending it into the very outer edge of the rotor. Sorry digital camera is being borrowed by family so no pics.
Anything to worry about, car only has 60 miles on it
Anything that creates a stress riser in a brake rotor will be bad to have under demanding circumstances like Open Track service.
Thanks for the feedback. Digital is on vacation with Brother in law. The chip is minor and as described above, on the very most outer edge of the rotor; I'd imagine that's a better place than being in the center? There is no visible cracking or anything like that.
Of all the cars I've owned I've never had road debris damage a rotor before.
how can you tell for sure it was road debris?
claim it's a defect and get a new rotor under warranty.
for all you know, it is defective
It appears to be from road debris because the rim has a nice cut right across from the rotor damage indicating that something hit the spoke then the spoke shot it into the rotor...but I guess it could have been the other way around where the rotor piece broke off and shot outward to the rim? Could it be possible?
You must be in California...We have the worse roads here.

Thanks!
The CHP have become garbage men having to remove debris from the road daily anything from a refrigerator to a couch or wood to gravel from a truck or someone losing their load. Add to the fact that our roads are all torn up so once you dodge all of the debris on the freeways you have to put up with potholes and tearing up your alignment.
Went to dealer and they were baffled by the damage, they took off the rotor and the area which had damage was pushed in as well. They are contacting GM to get an approval to replace it.
