Default GHL or Corsa Exhaust

To those of you with a GHL system.... I am still trying to decide if I want a Corsa Sport or GHL. I had the Corsa's on my C5 and loved them. What I find intriguing about the GHL's is their unit construction, thereby making alignment easier and there would be less joints.

Do the GHL's have no resonance as advertised? And do they have that really neat over-run burble? I feel the Corsa Sports excel in both these areas, and I would try the GHL's if I knew they matched the Corsa sound without cabin resonance. I know of no local Vette owner with GHL's.

Thanks
Bill

It's been reported that Corsa has no drone and GHL has a small amount. Best idea is obviously to try to find someone you can listen to yourself as any thing else is subjectve.

I just installed my GHLs this morning and they are just as muscle-sounding as I had imagined without the resonance. I videoed a before & after but don't expect it to be up in an hour. I gotta figure out how to use the software first. I was dead set on getting the Corsa Sports, but then the GHLs came out, and forum reports noted the Corsas sound is not as low as the GHLs, rather more European. And comparing the tips, the Corsas are 3.5" I believe, and the GHLs are a whopping 4"!!!

The Corsa's I am familiar with as I already had them on my car, and for sure there is ZERO resonance with them.

Dallas - please let me know how the GHL's are on the resonance issue, and also if they have that over-run burble that just sounds soooo cool!

Pics look really great...it is a very nice system.

Best,
Bill

Would love to hear them! Can you post a pic or sound clip? Who did you get them from and approx how much?

Congratulations on your new sound system!

Got them from:
http://www.motorsportimage.com/
They were running a special which I believe is still in effect. Just tell them a friend from the forum sent you. They were about $1000-$1100 I believe. Had to wait a month for them to come in as the demand for these is crazy. Installation was done in Garland, TX at AAA Muffler for $125. Insist on a drive-on lift. They happened to have both. Resonance? Where? You can catch a blip of it sometimes at 1400-1500 (ie: up a hill), but even that is gone just as fast as I noticed it coming. If the radio is on no matter how low, you hear nothing. You want resonance? Drive a US Army deuce&1/2...no wonder they make you wear hearing protection in those things. Will listen to the burble tonight as I cruise with the top off. Video is a work in progress.
Now if I can only find a chick to cruise with her top off...

Okay. I took it out lastnight with the top off. Damn I had no idea how much more fun this is to drive. I change gears a lot more now in my automatic. Backing off the accelerator after a high RPM yields a very throaty hollow inhalic timbre that doesn't pop whatsoever. Sweet! I hear the sound only gets better after they are "broken in". This morning I took it out & wanted to try something. I put it in 3rd and intentionally tried to keep it in "drone" mode. (1500) Couldn't do it. Not even on purpose. The engineering of the pipes related to the torque of the car won't allow it. Amazing. Keep chewing on the popcorn, will work on the video.

Bill, i have heard the Corsa, and they sound sweet. But GHL's do not "match" the Corsa, they are much much deeper. The Corsa sound is much higher pitched. The GHL has absolutely ZERO resonance under normal driving conditions. The only time i can ever get it to make the very slightest resonance is when i try to by letting it bog in 6th gear at 1400 rpms...and even with this the very minor resonance only occurs for a second. Normal highway cruising at 1500-1600 rpms the GHL is perfect. A little louder than stock, but barely. Good luck in your choice, you will not go wrong with either. But if you hear the GHL you will buy it.

p.s. oh yes...decel burble is sweet when coasting into a stoplight. I barely turn my radio on now when i'm driving around town.

Thanks for the great description. Exactly what I was looking for! I just spoke to Brian at GHL, since GHL uses a stainless steel packing - as opposed to Corsa who does not use a packing at all. This was a concern of mine as normally packing degrades over time and the exhaust gets ratty sounding. Brian assured me this will not happen with the packing GHL uses, and they have a lifetime warranty. I think Im gonna go with the GHL's. Thanks for the guidance...

As I have stated, and a few others that have purchased GHL's, the love affair begins the moment you open the box and see the workmanship and how great they look...then it gets even better as soon as you hear them.

Good luck

DV I had decided I would not mod the exhaust since I have been droned out in the past and now after reading you input they will be on order ASAP. Did you work with anyone in particular at AAA muffler in Garland. Anxiously awaiting your video. Did you have the GHL's delivered to your home or to AAA?

Just ordered the GHL's from Mark at Motor Sport Image $1049.00 plus $50.00 shipping heck of a deal. Decided to ship to me so they don't end up on someone's else's ride. I'll report later Mark said 2 to 3 weeks at best as DV reported. THX

SOMEBODY PLEASE post some before and after of this exhaust. I am leaning to the GHL's but only because of the excellent descriptions of the sound on the forum. I am now begging for sound clips!
