Coating a cat

Anyway, when I got 'em, I read the paperwork and it said that painting, plating, or coating them, would void the warranty,(I don't care) and could cause them to fail, by over heating. (aren't they suppose to get hot?)
I contacted Jet-Hot who said that it's B.S. and has never had any problems. I contacted three other coating companies which only one said not to coat.
I then remembered Jim Hall's post saying that there was a cat overtemp protection circuit that adds 20% more fuel when activated.(That would hurt my gas mileage.)
So my question to the Guru's is if I coat them, can they get too hot? If so, will it cause the overtemp circuit to add more gas? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
Also, where did you buy them and, if I may ask, how much did you pay for them?

let us know how they sound once you get your car and install them
I have always been told you can not coat the cats due to the heat used during the coating process. I have had many sets of headers coated and even some of the pipes that come after them, but never had the cats coated.
Maybe they have a new process to coating the cats. Oh, I have used Jet Hot's ceramachrome on all my exhaust mods, so maybe there is a difference in the coating you choose.

I would trust the cat manuf before I would trust someone who you are paying to coat them. Who knows, if you overheat them, you may FUBAR the internals and INCREASE backpressure.

My thought exactly. Well, not exactly. My first thought was "with what?" Corn Flake crumbs, Oven Fry, seasoned flour??
