I've owned a number of corvettes and always done my own work. I always buy the helms manuals and have a set for the C6. I have been looking for PC compatible diagnostics for this car and can't seem to find anything except for OBDII. I don't need to reprogram anything... just the diagnostics. I HATE going in for something stupid like a loose connector. No one takes better care of you car than you do if you know what I mean.
For a C6 you need a diagnostic scanner like a Tech II and a CANdi module. The module is needed due to the C6 using LAN communications. The service manuals are still good to have, but to read the codes you'll need the special tools.
I understand...There are a couple of products... Diacom and Auto tap.. that provide PC compatable software and interface cables. If I had a 2004 GM,Ford or most any major brand they have a product for reading everthing that the dealer does. I just haven't found anything for the C6 yet.
The Auto XRay 4000 is supposed to do CAN. I haven't tried it with the C6 yet because I don't have the car yet (it's to be built this week), but it seems to work just fine with other cars. I got one at Tooltopia (http://www.tooltopia.com/) for $253.00, then there's another $49.95 from the manufacturer to unlock the extended GM codes. Much cheaper than a Tech II with Candi, and does all but mode 8 (changing things). The models 5000 and 6000 seem to be the same device, with more cables for non-OBD-II cars.

None of those do full scanning and recording and allow full playback.
The only one I have seen that runs off a laptop is the special version Ease scanner that JR from Team ZR-1 has which they helped Ease do the design and long term testing with C6s.
JR did test it on my wifes C6 and it worked well.

I have the beta version of EASE for testing and it works well. I am not sure when it will be released to the public though.

I am interested if your Auto XRay will work with your C6 when you get it. I also am looking for a code reader. I don't want to change anything just shot trouble codes. Thanks.

I'll try it and post back here (as well as PM) once I get the car, which (with any luck) will be in two or three weeks. Depends on Allied, I suppose.
As noted above, it doesn't do everything, it's primarily a diagnostic and repair tool. It does show 'A', 'B' and pending codes as well as clearing the MIL.
On my Z-28 (LS1) it will display about 50 or 60 real-time parameters, such as engine load, RPM, timing and fuel trims and does have a trigger mode where it will hold a number of samples of this data before and after you press the trigger button to help diagnose intermittant problems.
It's probably the best or only reason I can think of for letting someone else drive the car - so I can watch the numbers.
I've tried it, the Auto Xray 4000 works with the C6, at least as far as reading codes and basic data. It displays "found CAN" and scans much faster than the class 2 / SAE VPW does. Looks like I have many other parameters of interest as well as O2 sensor tests, etc. There's no specific mode for the 2005 yet, but telling the scanner it's a 2004 GM car seems to work fine.
The manufacturer does offer online updates for the firmware, so I expect there'll be a 2005 mode soon.
I'd have reported back a couple days earlier but I was busy driving the car
