Looking to order a 1SX and need to know if the steering column is telescoping...I have a 1SB and it is electric, but does the 1sx go in and out at all - manually or otherwise?
Thanks. If you have been in both, do you find the wheel to be at the point nearest the dash (if it were telescopic), or closest to driver...or in the middle?
I am planning on purchasing a 2006 1SX coupe and would like a telescoping wheel (but am unwilling to purchase the 1SB option package).
Will the factory (for an order) or the dealer install a telescoping wheel (essentially as a stand-alone option)?
Has anyone requested this?
I purchased my 2002 330i via European delivery and requested a non-standard interior color with no difficulty. I ASSUME this would not be a problem, BUT.....
Be warned of this: I wanted a 1SX but they were on constraint so I have the 1SA. I don't care for all the doo-dads in the 1SB BUT the one thing that I have found I would like to have most from the 1SB lineup is in fact the telescoping wheel. I came from a C5 and had a set 'pimped' back seating position. No go on the C6 and I think it is because of where the steering wheel sits. With the telescoping, I can put it closer to my body and away from the top of my thighs nearest my knees. Since I do not have the telescoping, trying to put the same amount of seat lean that I used to use doesn't work (not the recline, but where you tilt the front of the seat cusion up). The top of my thighs near my knees hits the steering wheel. Of course I can put the tilt of the wheel up some but I like for the curve in the top of the wheel to follow the curve in the part of the dash above the instrument cluster. SO...the result is that I barely am able to tilt the seat bottom at all and no where near where I would like to put it. Not a BIG deal. You will get used to it but it was clearly noticed when I got the car.
Thanks for all the input. This one is for my 57 y.o. Dad, and he hates the electronics (not too fond of some of them myself), which is why he wants the 1sx. We are big men, so the seat is always in the all the way back position, and most likely will be swapped with custom built alum racing seats...so I don't think this will matter, as long as the steering wheel is stuck in a position near the dash, not the driver.
