Default Gears for my Auto

Can anyone help me out with this?

I have 3.15 right now. What do you recommend? I drive this car daily.

How much will it improve my 1/4?

How much will it cost to buy and install them? I'm thinking about doing it at HP sales in Pompano.

For what it's worth, here are the result of some simulations.

Don't get too carried away that the times/trap speeds
might not match what you've run - the simulation
assumes some very specific weights, temp, humidity,
traction, etc which might not match your conditions.
The simulation does probably give a good hint as to
the change in et you'd see with a gear change
because that was the only variable changed in each of
the simulated runs.

Stock 3.15:1 rear:

1st @ 6500 rpm: 52mph
2nd@ 6500 rpm: 98mph
3rd @ 6500 rpm: 161mph
1/4: 12.8 @ 109mph

3.42:1 rear:

1st @ 6500 rpm: 48mph
2nd@ 6500 rpm: 90mph
3rd @ 6500 rpm: 148mph
1/4: 12.7 @ 110mph

3.73:1 rear:

1st @ 6500 rpm: 44mph
2nd@ 6500 rpm: 82mph
3rd @ 6500 rpm: 136mph
1/4: 12.7 @ 111mph

If you are getting 12.5 in the q. with a non-Z51 auto in virtually stock form your doing very well. Please don't tell me it was hot and humid in FL that day what was your 60' time?

3.73 and you will raise the rev limiter once you get the heads done raising your top speed in each gear.

Can someone show me the same comparison starting with the 2:73 axle ratio with A4 trans? I'm debating whether or not to change out the gears-I hear I'll have to buy a complete carrier to do so; from Chevy, it retails for about $23-2500, plus labor...oh, and although I've never clocked the base 1/4 mile times with the car, I have now installed a Calloway Honker Air Breather and the Corsa Sport Exhaust system. Haven't gone over 60 MPH yet as the car has only 427 miles on it(no pun there).

Going from 3.15 to 3.73 will you reduce your 1/4 mile times between .25 to .35 depending on your traction/launch.

If you're going to do that, why not just get a new
rear end from DTE. You can get any gear you want
and it's under $2K.

My plan is to get a 3.90 DTE rear end sometime later
this fall.
