Do not let your c6 get in some bad wheel hop, I did last night at the track for like 10 feet and left the rear end on the ground in peice's. Just A word to the wise, I am running 480 to the rear and did have drags on but I am not the only one to do this so be careful of the hop!!!

Sorry to hear this man. That will leave a dent in the average wallet.
Usually when this type of damage happens the differential case cracks and sometimes the transmission case too. The result is the engine will rev but the car will not move.
Be sure to have them check the transmission output shaft too. Usually, at least in the C5, whenever this type of thing occured, the transmission would take it on the chin too. Good luck with the repairs.
I think this might be the first case (no pun intended) I have of this being reported on the C6 forum.

Not the first. a C6 from Austin destroyed the differential at the track with a stock car. No mods, no 6000RPM holeshot, it came apart on the track.
Just spoke to the guy last Sat night at the 1431/Parmer meet, the car was fixed under Warranty and he has a Z06 ordered from the same Dealer with the trade of the C6.
Wow You mean to tell me that the Vette rear end can be pulverized from a wheel hop ?? Are you serious?? I thought they made these cars so tough.
No. They made these cars fast, but then they added traction control and torque management to make them survive. Turn off the latter, and things can break. The rear end of these cars is the weak link. The shock loading caused by wheel hop, ie instantly going back and forth between zero traction and full traction at WOT, will break them. Wheel hop in first gear is the equivalent of beating on the gears with a 4,000 pound hammer.
