Dam, what rotten luck was this your C6 or one of your prior Corvettes. I am assuming that you had the stock intake setup?
I am looking to purchase a cold air induction system for my C6. I hear the Vortex or the lingenfelter are the ones to buy. Does anyone know which cold air induction is the best for the C6?
Thanks
Rick
Later today we are replacing a Halltech on a MN6 C6 that was recently installed and replacing it with the new Lingenfelter Cold Air Induction.
We will see if and how much a difference there is......

C5 with Vortex, 4 to 5 inches water, waves, no way back out, dead engine, new engine - I personally do not believe the Haltech on our C6 will do the same thing since the water is not near the intake. Luckily, insuarance covered the cost

what are you guys talking about, best against water or performance increase?
LPE knows but may not admit they tested all of these inake configurations, and found out what they already knew, graham included, that they don't make much if any HP. There unit made only 6-8 HP, no matter what they advertise, and it didn't improve there 1/4 mile times.
I'm not bashing these units, there are quality made, It's just that GM closed the gap between the factory unit and the aftermarket. So instead of making 12-16 HP like you did on the C5 units, you're making hardly any if any increase to justify the COST. The money would be better spent on headers or applied to a cam install. If you're looking for a 15 HP increase for $400 and 30 minute install time and SOTP feel,It's just not there!

but you need to look at the very top end and look at the delta not the peak, it's close to 25rwhp.

I installed the Halltech Stinger and CAI system on my C6 about a month ago and I'm extremely pleased with the results. Although I did not put the car on a dyno before/after - I could tell there was a significant improvement in performance with the Halltech system. The best part was I did not have to do any cutting and install time was about 2 hours.
I had a vortex for over three years on my c5 daily driven. The only problem I had was one day pulling into a restaurant parking lot that had a puddle about 4" deep when I ran thru it I sucked up water the engine stumbled I shut of engine immediately, when I disconnected the snorkel there was water all way up to the throttle body. Very close call! Other than that ran car through light and heavy downpours and never had a problem.

Again, no one expects water inhalation to be a daily problem, but the added risk is what steered me clear. Since these are not FI systems anyway (ie: you're not FORCING more air into the intake), the safer choice seemed the better one for me...
