Has anyone else gotten some pretty bad rattling on the driver's side door and rear headliner? Going to schedule to have it fixed, but it's really annoying.
I have, and after having my vette overnight, they told me the noise was from a cuff link I'd left in the door pocket. I let them know, I had put the cuff link there, and since I was pressed for time, I would take the car but give them another chance to get it right after I scheduled another appointment to get my radio replaced and fix my right turn light.
With the top off or windows open, driver only, moderate speeds?
I've heard a fairly loud thumping or rattling under these conditions that seems to be related to the passenger seat belt or something close to it - in any case, pulling on the passenger seat belt seems to help the noise. I suspect (but am not sure) that it may be the loose belt where it goes into the retractor flapping and rattling the retractor.
Does the noise sound like something tapping or thumping the windshield
near the visors? There is a wire harness behind the headliner and trim just above the visors. I've seen a couple do this on rough, wash board roads. Taping the harness to the windshield header took care of the noise on those cars.
My drivers side window was creaking along the top weather stripping where it meets the roof. A shot of silicon lube on the rubber took care of the problem.
My top rattles like my 1989 did with 60000 miles on it. Really disappointing from a $50k car. Brakes squeek horrible. Also bad fuel gage sensors that GM can't fix. Less than thrilled!
Fun car, I wish GM had spent a little more time and $$$ on the details.
Welcome to ownership of a General Motors product. My previous vehicle, a 2005 Hummer H2 had more squeaks and rattles than imaginable. Although still a great vehicle, like the C6, interior just not up to par with Japanese manufacturers. My other cars are (have been) 95 NSX, 01 GS 300, 02 Tundra, 03 Z06, 04 4Runner, 05 TL and, of course, since I work for a Toyota dealer, I get my choice of dealer demonstrator. Nonetheless, the C6 evokes somesort of childhood fantasy (cartoon devil and angel appear on my shoulders whispering into my ears) everytime I look at it and drive it...I will learn to deal with its shortcomings in interior quality and a few reliability issues. Besides, when was the last time Toyota/Lexus/Honda/Acura put out a 400HP Muscles car...uh...NEVER. We can only hold our breath and wait for the next product from Tochigi. Rumors say it might be V10 powered.
I agree with TXC6 GM just does not have it together when it comes to building a perfect car. Honda has accomplished this along with Toyota and many other imported cars. I love the Corvettes but the other GM cars and trucks as well as the dealerships have a lot of area to improve in. I still intend to buy a C6 because it is an impressive car despite some of the mechanical problems.
I have the rattle problem also on the drivers door... if i touch my memory seating area of plastic it will stop... i dont know if i am willing to take it in and let them try and fix it... but it is very annoying..
I recently bought an 05' Honda Odyssey and man is that thing tight. On my C6 you can push on any of the plastic interior parts and they rattle and squeak,on the Honda its solid as a rock.Still love the car but its too bad GM can't at least button things down.
More a buzz than a rattle, but yes it's there. Agree with prior post that it is connected with the mem switchpad. There are other squeeks coming from the rear.
Damn, my 2000 Coupe never did this. My '02 Z06 makes the C6 look downright loose.
I had the same noise from the memory switch pad. I was able to put a piece of rubber between it and the door pad. Any one know how to fix it correctly. It started on the way home from the dealer, what luck. I also had a squeek from up front. Turns out to be a loose bumber mount on the drivers side. Took me a while to find that one.
I have it (roof rattles and crackels on all major bumps )and appears to be where the roof frame is attached to the metal roof itself. I suspect the silicone or tape used melted in the 100% weather, but in "general" there was a report that 12 units have had roofs delaminated from frame while driving. His wife is a service writer, so I tend to believe he knows whats up. Now to find the time for repair at only 500 miles and 1 month of ownership !
I had a small noise from the passenger side area. Dont know exactly where it was but after installing the B&B Bullets the passenger side noise is all gone
I have a noise coming from the passenger side door. It seems to go away when I press on the door pocket. I also have a noise coming from the small flap behind the passenger seat by the window when my top is up. If I press against it while driving it seems to go away. And one more noise I can't seem to find. It's also coming from the passenger side door. I only hear it when I drive over bumps. It sounds like a screw bouncing around in my door. I'm going to the dealer for my first oil change and I'll mention all these noises. I hope they can be fixed because they're driving me nuts.

Minor rattle, drivers side door fixed by tech under warranty when oil was changed at 1,300 miles. Did have a roof rattle at 3,000 miles, which went away when I undid and refastened the roof latches. Seems like one wasn't locked down all the way. Problem solved after that. Suggest you try it first.
Just got my new 05 Thursday and I've got a minor rattle at the front of the coupe hatch behind the passenger. Also a buzz from somewhere at the rear of the center console. The buzz is excited by certain road textures. The rattles/buzzes take away from the enjoyment of the car, for sure.
Complained to GM Assistance last week, they immediately emailed asking for telephone number to discuss issue, but have failed to call back since. I think they blow !!!!
