I've got a few simple questions on supercharging a C6. What kits are the best for reliabilty? What kits are the easiest to install and tune? Also what kits are aval?

Thanks

ProCharger is the only one available so far.

Can not attest to ease of install

Actually, the magnacharger is out (in limited quantities right now).

Depends on who you ask, and what you're looking for. Peak HP would go to ProCharger, but the Maggie would give you more instant power "under the curve". Ease of installation - that's about even I'd say - Procharger requires some extensive underhood routing, while the Magnacharger essentially replaces the intake manifold - making the Maggie a cleaner finished installation and a more integrated final install (IMHO). The current generation Magnacharger also requires a hood change to accommodate the extra 2 inches clearance it needs. 2nd generation Magnacharger (6 months out or so) will not require a hood change, but produce slightly less HP.

For integrated installation, more power under the curve, and a generally better look - I'm waiting for the gen2 Magnacharger myself.

YMMV...

Actually this one does require a hood, which we also will have available by the time we finish the R&D work on this blower kit.
The new supercharger is based on our Commemorative car hood which can be seen here:
www.lingenfelter.com

rumor has it that Magnuson does plan to introduce a kit that fits under the stock hood, but I have no information on it as of yet.

hope this helps,
Ed

Maggie's probably gonna be close to the C5 Price - $6,995 + Hood (another $2,000 give or take).

I'd prefer the sleeper look myself, and magnacharger knows that the "hood-swap-issue" is losing alot of potential sales to ATI/et al, because folks don't want to spend the extra $$ on a hood and/or don't want to change the look of the vehicle.

If you're like me (for both reasons above) then wait awhile (6-8 months) for the non-hood-swap model to come out. That, and it will give them a chance to work the kinks out, for people to come out with boost & A/F meters for the C6, etc.

I research the blue-eyed-dog**** out of this stuff, before I make a $7K mistake that could cost me a motor (or at least a street drivable car). Figure a gen/2 maggie, heads, cam, intake (it uses your standard/halltech/etc intake), headers & exhaust should be around $12-14K installed, and net you about 525-550 to the rear wheels - better start thinking about tranny/diff braces, fatter rubber, output shafts, etc. if you get your "foot into it" (and why would you add all that horsepower if you're not going to check it out at least once in awhile?).

I like the sound of the 2nd gen Magnacharger. However, where did you get that informaion? I could not confirm it with a call to the company. They said they weren't going to make it. Did I just talk to someone out of the loop? I want a Magnacharger, but don't want a hood that doesn't have a factory finish. Thanks for any info you have.

I understand the procharger requires service at every 3000 miles, is this the same case for the maggie??? Thanks

My comments came from a local vendor who is very much in the loop with Magnacharger. Perhaps they're just trying to sell what they have until the new one comes out. My understanding was, that they are aware of their limited market penetration, due to the hood issue (looks & $$-wise). I was led to believe that they just couldn't get the lower profile unit done, in time to get it to market to compete with the ATI unit.

I'll check with my contact to see if the status has changed. Magnacharger is aware they could sell a butt-load more units if they make the under-stock-hood unit happen.

Hi guys,
We have been working on a C6 kit for a while now and should be ready shortly, it will basicly look like our C5 kit with all polished ducting, polished Paxton head unit, and our single intercooler. This kit is one of the most upgradable kits made, The same head unit used on a stock C6 can be upgraded to make over 1000+ HP with nothing more than pully changes.(and engine upgrades of course)
Stock hood can be retained, it is very quiet, and no maintenance is necessary to the head unit.
We'll keep you posted with pics as soon as possible
