Default B&B Headers?

Anybody put B&B headers on a car yet? Just wondering what it does for sound quality and for performance. Which cat-back did you use?

My dilemna is that I love the look of the B&B's. I just think the Bullets are a little too loud and the Route 66s a little too quiet. I wish there were something in between. I called B&B and asked about adding headers with high flow cats to Route 66s; see if it split the difference. He said the headers and high flow cats would make it 'race car loud', even with the Route 66s. Agree?

I have high flow cats and 66's waiting for my '06. Hopefully the the A6 won't require a different bend and the cats will give the 66's a little more sound.

So, are you planning on using high flow cats without headers?

I have heard that they are in the process of making an X-pipe that will quiet the Bullets down. The X-pipes that they have right now won't make a significant difference. The new x-pipe should be the midpoint between the Route 66 and Bullets.

That would be perfect.

edit: I just spoke with someone at B&B; he confirmed they are developing resonators for the Bullets; might be perfect indeed

These don't come with high flow cats, correct? If not, how do you change out from the old factory ones? New X pipe?

You don't need a new x-pipe, the Random Tech's just bolt in.

Very interesting. I called RT today; they claim 8 hp from these babies, with a little extra volume. My research on the forum, mostly in the C5 section (there is very little about this in C6), states they are controversial in terms of gains. I'm gonna post a new thread; check to see what everyone thinks.

What made you decide on this setup? Just curious; I may end up doing the same thing. I just love the look of the B&B's; this thread gave me new ideas. I may do what you're doing or wait to see if I can get Bullets with resonators. I can't wait to see if that fits my needs in terms of preserving the sound but reducing the volume just a little.

edit: Btw, for the $950 for the B&Bs and $650 for the RT's, it seems like you're not too far from the same price as long tubes with high flow cats and cat back exhaust. Did this come into your decision, or are you against the long tube idea?

Actually, I was going after heat reduction. I was going to Jet Hot coat 'em. After I got 'em, I read that coating would void the warranty. Then after research, I found mixed opinions on coating cats and decided not to. I figure it's an easy install, I might get some HP, and hopefully some more sound from the 66's. I was going to go with the Bullets, but I figured that the cats would make them too loud.

Well if all C6's can pass Kalifornia emissions, you know there are some serious bricks on 'em. Have you seen pics of them? They're huge. Dynatech claims that their high flows cat's flow 51% more than the stock cats, so I would guess RT's are similar. I'm assuming that the volume will affect the sound, but it may not.

B&B already offers the x-pipe with resonators (part FCOR-0440). I have the Bullets with this x-pipe and the only real noticable difference to me is less burble on decel. They didn't really quiet the Bullets.

They do have that one but they are still in the process of making another one that will quiet down the bullets.
