Default First Trip To The Strip

Just got back from the Corvette Museum and Plant. Took the C6 to Beech Bend Drag Strip. Ran it 11 times. Best time was 12.7@113. I guess I need a little more practice. Best 60' was 2.12, most were 2.2.

Is your car stick or auto? z51 or non? Is it stock or any mods? Im guessing its a stick with your trap speed. With more practice and better 60ft you will easily get 12.4 to 12.5 and even better with cooler air.Nice times for first time out unless you have a bunch of mods.

I don't know how it compares, but I found in my C5 that '60 time improvements made a nice difference in times at the end of the track. I had read some claims that if you knock .1 second off the 60', you get twice that off the final time. I'm not sure the change was that dramatic, but it's certainly noticeable.

With that said, you might have to abuse your car to get a better '60 time, assuming you are getting traction. The question becomes is it worth it to get that fastest time. At first I was reluctant, but the longer I went, the easier it became to stand on the brake in the burnout box and roast the drag radials. In 3-4 times at the track, I feel like I got that to work really well only once, so more practice would've improved my frequency of getting it right as well as my times, but I'm betting it also would've improved my chances of breaking something, too.

So, do you feel lucky?

considering your mods, you should be able to run low 12s with perfect conditions and driving.Wait for some cool weather and youll see a big difference.Considering your car is a z51 ,6spd with tune, headers, intake and exhaust, you should have no problem bringing those times down in the future.Im not sure about your elevation either,so that could make a difference to.There are so many things that can make a big difference.Cool air and traction can make major differences.

Get some sticky tires and you will hit high 11's with good traction.
