Default Do I need seat covers?

I really don't want to cover the beautiful red seats in my 1 week old C6. C5 seats did't wear well at all so I was just curious how well C6 forum members' seats are holding up. Any thoughts?

Drivers Seat is not wearing well. 7 Months as a daily driver and the seat looks worn. (wrinkles, creases, wear). No Tears, the seat are still comfortable. The the leather seems different than my last 4 cars (a BMW and 3 Audis) It seems thinner and the finish is less supple. Cows are cows so I don't know why the difference.

Note: I am "Hefty" which may be a factor, but I was equally "stocky" for my previous rides.

Not sure if you can do the same for the C6, but I just replaced my C5 driver's seatback for $97 from gmpartsdirect.com. Not a bad deal.

try keeping armor all leather conditioner (or equivelant) on the seats. That will keep it from wearing. The wear comes from your rear end dragging across the seat. With the leather conditioner on there, it will slide across as opposed to drag across.

My C5 seats still look great and my C6 seats look like new after 8,000 miles. I keep them supple with leather conditioner and am carefull not to hit the bolster with my rear when I sit down. Grasping the wheel when getting in the car helps.

At 15,000 miles of daily use, you can tell someone has been sitting in the seat, slight scuffs, some wrinkles. When/if it starts looking bad enough to bother me, I'll have the seat professionally redone. What I won't do is cover up perfectly good leather with vinyl or rubber. I paid for leather seats, I'm going to sit on them.

You make a valid point. This is a "wear" item and I guess I'm going to have to accept this fact.

Some years ago, when a close friend changed jobs, I gave him a nice briefcase as a present. After 6 months or so, I never saw him carry it and asked why. His reply was that" it was too nice to use and get dirty, so he was keeping in his closet instead of carrying it." Friend, the purpose of this parable is that your C6 is a sports car, NOT a museum piece! Use it, drive it, enjoy it---in the unlikely event you wear the seats out, replace or recover them. But don't put slipcovers on them like grandma's sofa in the parlor! Relax, the seats will be fine. Just wipe them off with a damp, clean cloth every once in a while and stay away from leather softeners or cleaners.

Default I need seat covers any suggestions

After 6 months of daily driving my seat is starting to look terrible. Can anybody suggest some nice seat covers? There has to be some good stuff you can buy on the Internet.

Thanks!

Default iggee seat covers

I purchased mine via. Ebay for $179.95. Ordered solid black for my 2006 coupe. They fit perfect! Fit like a glove. They come in two pieces for each seat so there is less effort needed to get a great fit. I have owned the cheaper seat covers and the "wet suit" version, but these look and feel just like the original seat material. You get what you pay for! You can also go directly on-line and order at www.iggeeseatcovers.com or toll free at 1-800-888-4615. Be sure to mention the internet pricing when you call since the regular price is $239.95 plus shipping.

My passenger seat is like brand new, does anyone know if it is possible to swap passenger and driver seats or do all the electrical connections prevent it?

I would imagine that most of the parts are different between the driver's and passenger's seats. You obviously cannot just remove the seats and swap them. That would cause a big issue with seat switches, seat belt buckle locations, etc. There is also a sensor mat in the passenger seat on '06+ models for the airbag system that needs to stay on that side.

The thing about the C6 leather seats is that new leather covers from GM are pretty cheap, and they are not that hard to replace. For a few hundred $$, you could have new seat leather without sacrificing the other seat or any crazy parts swapping.

FYI, here is a link to the replacement covers for the seats. One is the bottom cover and the other is the backrest/side bolster cover. Mine are about $170 & $180, respectively, but it seems the red is more expensive than the other colors:

These are very nice covers, had them on my C-5 ZO6 with the stiching in them on seat back. Or you could always remove the skins and put new ones on.With The okole seat covers, you do have to remove the seats, no big deal.

Get the covers. I have 24K on my 08 and they already show wear and even a small tear. POS's. The powertrain engineers should moonlight with the fit and finish guys. $49K car, $39 seats.

Default My seats are fine

65,000 miles, minor wrinkles, no scuffs or tears. I consider the wrinkles to be normal for any seat and perfectly acceptable.

For me, I seem to sweat in leather seats after about 30 minutes, I really hate that, so I said to hell with it and put sheepskins on mine.
