Does anybody know what type of adhesive is used to glue the front Z51 brake pads to the calipers? I've removed mine a few times now, and the adhesive is shot, so I'd like to replace it next time it's apart.
I already have an assortment of anti squeal compounds, it's nothing like any of them, it's a real adhesive. I have two sets of Z51 brake calipers and pads, and the pads had to be pried off with a screwdriver to remove them on each set.
The Z51 brakes use this adhesive instead of the spring clips used in the C5 (any maybe the standard C6?)
I have seen them on other cars and have not seen them at auto supply stores although I have not looked for them. You could try the dealer. The one's I have worked with come with the new pads.
Never had to "pry" either the stock Z-51 or the ceramic pads off the caliper pistons. There are "spring clips" that mount in the pad guides, and I believe the front ceramics (not the rears) had a rubber-like sheet that got stuck onto the pads (versus the rears, which I sprayed with anti-squeel stuff).

Are you sure your car wasn't built on a Monday?
The only spring is the one in the center of the caliper, C5 uses it, C6 Z51 doesn't, they have glue instead. Not sure about the standard C6. The stainless pad guides on each end are used in all cars.

I was referring to the pad guides (reference "spring clips"). When I switched to the ceramic pads, only one set of pads had the "stick on" sheet, the other did not. Coated both front & rear with anti-squeel. The pad guides keep the pads from flopping around - nothing else was used to "attach" the pads to the calipers (glue or otherwise)...

Sounds like you're talking about the insulator pads that come attached to other non-factory Z51 pads. The Z51 front pads are definitely glued to the caliper from the factory with no insulators. Unfortunately, it looks like this glue is only available pre-applied to true Z51 pads, so if I want it back it's going to cost $120.
I don't have any squeal yet, but I suspect it's only a matter of time without the adhesive in place. In my experience, aftermarket anti squeal compounds don't last very long if you get the brakes hot.
