Hi All,
We received one of the first LS7 engines today. We are one of the allocated dealers to receive one. GM made 139 of them and we were lucky enough to receive one. I had already taken a 5,000 deposit on it a couple of months ago.
Just wanted to let you guys know they are starting to trickle in. I've talked to my GM rep several times about getting another, and we'll see. If I get another I will let everyone know. Hopefully our customer tells a little of his story and gives us some pics and HP ratings.
Hi there,
No bare blocks are available. I charaged 12,595 for the engine.

That sounds like a fair price for what you are getting. Is there a waiting list to get on. What about a ECM ? I have a project in mind for this light weight monster. So glad to hear they will be available.

I'm trying to get more.. I'll let you guys know more as the project goes on.

It is virtually the same block as the LS2. Some internal differences will make the components lighter, such as titanium rods vs. powder metal rods (titanium is 45% lighter); forged cranks are lighter (generally speaking) than nodular iron; titanium valves are lighter than their steel counterparts; the main caps are forged steel rather than powder metal; the exhaust valves are sodium filled vs. steel; the pistons are cast and weigh more due to the bore size, the pins weigh slightly more, but are full floating; there are other slight weight differences, but none that would warrant worrying about weight.
I would venture to say, it is a safe bet that no other engine ever made by GM puts out more horsepower/lb of engine weight. Every component was put on the gram scale on this baby for a crash diet.
