Some times, my blinkers will not work. The cruise, lights and Brights all work. I have tried to adjust the steering wheel up and down, in and out. I can not pin point the problem. If I put the left blinker on. With the lights on and the breaks pushed. The right tail lights get brighter and the left gets dim. This also happens to the other side.
If it was a bulb, I would assume the blinkers would never work. Or they would blink really fast.
Any suggestions.
This is on a 2001. I did not mean to put it on the C6 message board.
Its the flasher itself. They go bad after a while. The flasher is a small (about the diameter of a quarter and about 2 inches long. It is underneath the steering column. If you remove the plastic piece under the steering wheel, it should be there. Depending on the day your car was made it could be on the left, right, or connected to a clip under a lip. There is no real rhyme or reason to where they put these things. They are about 4 bucks at any auto parts store.
I don't know if what I had is your problem... I could not completely tell from your description, but I had a problem with only the driver side DRL. It was out for about a week, then worked, and finally out for weeks. I took it in to be serviced and the mechanic had some info from Chevy indicating that the harness going to the lamp assembly may be too short. Sure enough, it was. It took a month for them to get the new harness, but following replacement I have not had any problems. In fact, the mechanic was so sure that this was the problem, he told me that "the problem was fixed."
They also replaced the harness on the passenger side too.
This is a known problem.
Good luck
