Default Suddenly more road noise.

The other day I was leaving a driveway and thought I heard a "pop" in the back of the car. Now it seems that I am hearing more road and wind noise coming from the back. I checked and the hatch seems ok.

Is there something that could have separated in the back or around the wheels that could cause this additional noise? At first I thought that maybe I was just being too sensitive to noise, or it was a different road surface, etc. but I notice it now every time the car gets up to about 45-50 mph.

Am I just going crazy and hearing things?

interesting... The rear tub is one piece of fiberglass. I guess you could have punctured it somehow, road debris up through inner fender etc....

I would check the fender wells, both outside, and by pulling back the carpet inside. Also check down inside of the storage compartments for damage.

I put in sound-proofing on my C5 which reduced maybe 30% of the road noise, but haven't considered it on the C6 because it has been substantially quieter than the C5. In fact, I drove it from Montana to California and was really happy with how quiet it was...very little wind or road noise. I have 2500 miles on it now and it's only been the last couple of days that I've noticed the increased road noise seemng to come from the right rear of the car.

Anyway, my first thought was that something under the rear carpeting or in the wheel wells had de-laminated or become unglued, but if it's all one piece, then that's not the case.

My next thought was that the hatch wasn't closed or that the rubber seal had been bent or something to allow sound into the car. Nope.

Thirdly, I thought that maybe something had gone wrong with a tire that was making it sound much louder, but the tires are ok.

And lastly, I thought that maybe the top wasn't securely sealed but I hadn't taken it off and it looks fine.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I'm going to check them all out.
