According to K&N, it is 10hp peek at the tires, but if you look at the dyno sheet that they take, it gives about 10hp across the board from 2500rpm to 6200rpm. I noticed the most, was a much better throttle response, just quicker to rev up and downshift than before. Also at high speed passing, the car seems to pull much nicer.
I dunno... I ordered the K&N FIPK for my 2001 C5 and was ready to put it in until I saw the instructions called for cutting and drilling (is this required for the C6)?
So.. I did more research and found that the SLP Blackwing (Lingenfelter) is a similar filter but requires no retro-fitting. Also.. there are greater hp gains with the Blackwing and (as I recall) is less expensive.
I always thought that I would go with a K&N, too, but I didn't want to buy a jigsaw to put it in (something just didn't "feel" right).
Good luck!
Yeah the new one for the C6 does not require any cutting. On my last vette the filter element came apart though, so I unbolted it from the front, and just had it attached to the throttle body, hanging there, and that worked for over a year. This one, I did the same, just attached it to the throttle body and left the rest of the stuff off. Yeah, the cut in the last one allowed some air to come up into the filter, my friend cut his, and after I saw what little that would help, I just plainly installed my last one. But this one is a 10 minute bolt in.

I haven't done a dyno on the new C6 yet so can't say about any HP gains but it sure does look great! Send me your email address and I'll send some pics.
