Default Radiator Protection

I was considering the under car radiator protection plate sold PFYC. Anyone get it and is it really necessary?

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

There was some talk here about crud getting up into that opening. I'm not sure it's necessary where I live, but I wanted to see if there was any benefit or loss to having it in place.

Thought about buying one, but decided to make my own (since I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it in place).

I had some gutter-guard (silver, metal mesh), flattened it, added rubber trim to 3 of the exposed edges. There are 3 bolts at the front of the under radiator opening. I undid those, then slipped the mesh between the plastic body panel and whatever it bolts to. Put the bolts back in place. Holds the mesh in place very tight.

It's been about a month now, and I check it once a week to see if it's caught anything, distorted, fallen out, loosened, or done anything bizarre. So far so good.

Sorry no pics.

I purchased the screen from PRYC and installed it which took a little bending and maneuvering I might add but nothing out of the ordinary. Install took about 20 mike mikes and so far seems to be great. Now I plan on putting a screen behind the front grille which I think I will replace with a chrome OEM grille soon to being released(no price yet) from Creative Engine Covers online.
Anyway, the lower cover seems to be a nice worthwhile investment. I used the original screws already there towards the front of the bumper and doesn't move around at all. Nice product.

The stainless Z06 screen behind the front grill is the way to go. Looks good to. When I had it off there was a piece of pallet wood in the shape of an arrow and 8 inches long stuck through the condensor. Got lucky on that one.

BTW, that's CF vendor PFYC.com. I added my radiator protection screen last spring. A big dry cleaning plastic bag that I drove over on the highway, passed underneath the car instead of getting sucked up under the radiator. Worth every penny.
