LS2 Redline question
Greetings from the C5 forum. 
I currently have a LS2 402 stroker with an AFR top end in my C5. I currently have the revlimiter set to 6500 RPM. My question is, it is safe to spin the LS2 on all forged internals to 7000 RPM? The reason for this is that the X2 cam is still making power past 6500 RPM. Any info would be great.

the LSx motor is good for 9000 rpms for an extended period of time. However, not a really good idea as that was for durabitly tests.
7100-7500 can be done with out a problem. Do a good dyno tune.
Sevel ppl have gone to 7500 but really never drive it above 7100.
The biggest challange is the stock timing chain. With your cam and head change I guess you changed to a better timing chain as well.

Hmmm.... I don't remember upgrading the timing chain
. I sent an email to Randy at DRM to find out if the stock Ls1 timing chain is still in my car. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to swap out the timing chain with an upgraded one? 
I am guessing a double roller chain is the best one to go with.

The bottom end is completely forged and the valve train is upgraded as well..

Actually Katech did some of GM's durability testing, and the stock parts are good for 6900rpm (01-newer, 97-00 only 6500rpm).
I run my forged race engines to 7500rpm, but they are NOT stoker motors. You should clear this with the rod manufacturer, but I would expect 7500rpm to be safe if the stock powdered rods are good to 6900...

I have 6.125 Eagle H-beam rods on the stroker right now. So, if the stock rods can handle 6900 RPM, I am sure Eagle rods will easily handle a 7100 or 7200 RPM. I think my timing chain is my only weak point right now which needs to be replaced. However, I don't think it’s a big deal to upgrade to a better one....

Come by some day if it's not snowing and we will raise the rev limiter. We installed the chain that came with the SLP 402 kit. I think it's a stock LS2 chain. RPM is what kills motors! Lets keep it down to maybe 6900. Anything over that and you can have problems. By the way race motors get rebuilt all the time so spinning isn't a problem.
