This has happened to me twice and I don't know what the vehicle is telling me...
Upon entering the vehicle (opening driver's door and stepping in), I got three chimes. The ign was completely off and there were no messages when I sat and started. Also, the fob was in my pocket and the vehicle was already shutdown properly (the chime made me think to confirm this). The vehicle had been sitting overnight.
I have had the same thing happen to me but it has always been at a gas station (three or four times) over the past year. I think that the system was warning me that it had never completely 'shut down' and that I was closing the driver door with the key fob inside (in my pocket). In each case, I had properly shut down the car, filled up with gas and was getting back in after filling up. I assumed that there must be a shut down time delay sequence that had not completed in a proper manner.

I've had this happen at gas stations when filling up, but it was due to fact that I never shut the drivers door. So the car thought I was just getting out when I got back in and shut the door, and was reminding me that I still had a fob in the car (as it was supposed to according to my personlized settings).
Never had it happen after setting overnite, though.

If you dont close the door after you get out (with the fob), the computer doesn't see that the fob has left (I think it checks when the door closes). So when you get back in, it does the check and finds the fob, closing the door with the fob inside = 3 honks.
