Has anyone had or heard of the gas gauge problems that were occurring in the C5s, happening in the C6s? I ask because I have my '03 Z06 at the dealer right now waiting for a new driver's fuel tank and sending unit, and my service advisor said that they have already had to do this on some C6s as well. I am concerned because I don't want this to happen to my new '06 as well. I already know about the C5 problems and how Techron or BG44 can help.
Thanks,
Michael
My 05 C6 will indicate empty if the tank is filled to the brim. My solution has been to only fill to about 7/8 ths full by watching gage when filling. Heard they have to remove fuel tanks to replace card. Don't want my car dismantled. Only if this leads to more serious issues...??

There is a TSB dated 6/2005. "fuel gauge reads empty when there is fuel in the tank"....cause: "the sender card has insufficient ink and loses electrical contact when the fuel tank is overfilled"
I have had this problem and the solution for me is to stop fueling once the gas pump automatically turns itself off. Refrain from putting in any extra fuel...don't add a bit more...stop. It works for me. This will probably get to be a problem in the future, but for now it is controlable if you are just careful in adding fuel. I too have a reluctance to have my car dismantled unless it is absolutely necessary.

Been there done that and it got worse. I had it taken care of in June and have had no additional problems. It's not a big deal. The transmission does not need to be removed as some have reported. Mine took about five hours.

Five hours sounds like a big deal! I will do it when it is absolutely necessary. I have GMPP so I can wait.
GM has a NEW fuel additive part# 88861011 that cleans the sulfur corrosion from the fuel gage sending unit. i never had any of my C-5s fixed as i found out that stop filling when the pump shut off and only used certain brands of gas fixed the problem for me. the C-6 the same thing and no problems
