Does anyone know how to get the ABS to shut off? It's real anoying not to mention dangerous. I don't want to take it in if this is a minor fix. Oh yeah, this isn't on a Vette but a Malibu. Don't freak out over that though, its Christmas time for crying out loud. Anyway I'd greatly appreciate any input from the resident tech pros

ABS is always on by default.
If it's going off when you are driving regularly there might be a problem with the system. That is not normal.
If you're saying the ABS light is on,then you need to see the dealer. That could be sensor issues,or aome other thing.Other than that, the abs does not become active till you slam on the brakes in a panic situation or the system detects the car sliding,in which case the traction also kicks in.They work together.
A properly functioning abs system is NOT dangerous but a safety feature! If it is NOT functioning properly, then it IS dangerous and it should be repaired by the dealer. This is not something to fool around with, as it could cause serious injury. It also works in conjunction with many other parts of the system and could affect a variety of other symptoms of drivability.
