I have a 2006 C6 with the manual 6-speed transmission. I also have the vibration when accelerating from a stop.
I have also noticed that when you let the clutch out slowly, with the brakes applied - there's no vibration. If clutch chatter is the problem, one would think you would feel it when forcing the condition by applying the brake and slowly letting the clutch out - in fact it might be worse. I only get the problem as the car begins to move, never when it is at a dead stop. Also, the condition is not nearly as noticeable when the engine is "revved" higher when releasing the clutch (in other words the higher the rpm when leaving a standstill, the less the chatter).
I don't have any answers but the condition is widespread and, I think, not harmful. I suspicion that it might have to do with the front engine/clutch, rear tranaxle combination - something that GM should be addressing because it would, most likely, be a design or build problem.
Ok, Im getting a little aprehensive now. I have an 02 6sp that has that terrible rattle, gm's "keeping everything a little loose to handle the horsepower speech" was heard a million times from the dealers. This is my main reason for getting out of my c5 and into a c6. Has anyone out there gone from a c5 to a c6 notice the same noise, or are we talking about a different noise to deal with?
The C5's made a nasty rattling noise if you put the trans in nuteral, let the clutch out and shut the engine OFF. I did the same expierment to my 06 Z51 today and it DID NOT make the noise.
My tranny/drive train makes no noises but it does shudder at low speed easy take offs and in reverse .
does anyone have a chatter in the clutch on light accell from a stop or in reverse??
Yes, I have exactly this same problem. However, unlike some of the other posts I've read here, mine just started doing this in the past couple of months. The car is a little over a year old, built 10/04. I have 16500 miles on it now and this just started about the 15000 mile mark. The clutch was very smooth from the day I picked it up, until the 15K mark. Now, sometimes (about half the time) it's very hard to disengage the cluth without it chattering and bucking. Time for another trip to the dealer.
