Exide Orbital ORB-78DT-84 works as well, and no additional brackets needed. Can be found at Walmart and other retailers as well as local parts stores. You can go to www.exide.com and find a supplier close to you.
Exide is junk, just as their former CEO Art Hawkins who is in jail for selling junk batteries to Sears after he bribed the buyer to take the business from JCI.
I installed an Optima in my car as soon as I brought it home in June/05.I had DBS in November/05.(The irony of all this is when I put the O.E. Delco on the charger,it still had virtually a full charge!)The one thing I did not do when I put the Optima in the car was put it on a good slow charge. It was advertised as coming charged, and it started the car right up upon install. It took 7.5 hours to slow charge back up using my Schumacher charger. The info with the RedTop says it too will handle multiple deep discharges, just not as many as the YellowTop will.My advice would be to give a good slow charge on your new Optima upon install, especially if you are a low milage Vette driver like myself.

Thats good because at 12.5 volts a battery is only at about a 70% state of charge. Optima is an acid starved battery by design, so keeping it up is good (no pun intended). Since Optimas are 99% pure lead, they will not sulfate as fast as a flooded battery. I most cases, peolpe that use their cars buy fewer batteries than people who don't.
So does the alternator charge the optima or do you have to put on it's on charger? While I have never had the DBS I have a high powered set up and just haven't gotten around to getting the Optima yet. When I am stopped at a light with the tunes on and AC my volts are under 12 so I know I am testing the limits of the Delco.

You are most likely using the battery to power part of the car. The output of the alternator does not normally put out enough at idle to power all the stuff on your car. That is why reserve capacity is more important than CCAs on new cars.
Yellow would work better than red if you have a high powered stero.
Now if only we can stop the DBS from happening, we will be set!
Another thread had a shutdown technique to use to avoid DBS.
It seems like you had to cross your fingers, exit the car with your right foot first, and then bow in the direction of Mt. Rainer to complete the ritual.
Of course none of this works if you don't have your monkey paw in your pocket next to your fob.
