I just installed both, & I am having a problem with the cats hitting the tunnel plate when going over a bump. I am running the Corsa Sport mufflers.....Any Idea's???? Thank's in Advance.

I doubt if the type of mufflers will make any difference. Can you not rotate the cats away from the plate, or are they round? Next thought, the header bolts are likely smaller than their holes...you might have to loosen up all the bolts on the header(s) and then have someone pull down on the rear of the headers to see if that gives you any more clearance angle. Good luck with finding a solution!

The cats are round...I don't think the amount of play in the header bolt is enough to do it, but I may give it a try.

There isn't that much play in the headers. And more than likely not enough to change the angle enough to clear. They way the rear pipes are mounted can change the pitch of the system and bang the cats on the tunnel plate. You should have tightened from the front back, and when you get to the I pipes from the X pipe to the mufflers, you should move those around and position them where they don't hit the fuel tank heat shields.

The system was tightened front to back, so if I rotate the "I" pipes it should bring the entire system away from the plate???
Well after a entire day of prying & twisting I still can not make enough clearance!!! Could my set of headers been made out of spec??? It seems the only way to gain enough clearance would be to cut a hole in the tunnel plate just above where the cats sit.....Maybe Lou will have the answer.

That's exactly what you need to do - you have to cut a hole in the tunnel plate. I watched the installers at LG Motorsports do that to my stock tunnel plate when the installed the headers.
LG motorsports was closed last week. You'll be able to get that resolved especially if you have the 1/4" inch plate.
this was dicussed in another thread about LG's and ABS Clearance. You'll note that Anthony at LGMotorsports posted you need to drill a hole above the O2 sensors!

Hi,
Give us a call and we can help figure this out. We do have to drill for the 02 sensors but not for the cats.
Also, sometimes the clamps are rotated (clocked) too far and the clamp bolts hit the tunnel.
We have never had the cats themselves cause any issues, so please call us and we can put you on with our techs that install hundreds of these.

Thanks and Sorry to hear about these issues.

I spoke with one of your techs today, he informed me the cats should be right after the merge collectors. Mine are installed AFTER the x-pipe tword the rear of the car. he also told me to look on ls1 how to, it shows a c-5 with the cats in the same place as mine are currently. What way is correct I really want to get this car back on the road!

We have been putting the Cats right directly after the Collectors for best "Cat" performance, and less chance of codes.
