Default LG Header install/pics/dyno

My bad for getting this information in 3 other seperate threads ... thought this might help those searching in the future for a consolidated view and info sharing.

C6/MN6

only modification before LG header install was B&B Bullets I put on.

Dyno Results (Mustang Dyno at Curry's in Sterling, VA ... awesome shop and service btw for fellow Northern Virginians):

Before: 353 HP (5750 rpm) / 355 Tq (4500 rpm)
After: 365 HP (5750 rpm) / 376 Tq (4250 rpm)

I had the LG Pro long tubes with high flow cats (JetHot coated as well). The installer drilled a hole in the steel tunnel plate to better thread and protect the O2 sensors since they relocate back further.

I agree that Curry's is an outstanding operation. They also installed my uncoated LG Headers and Hi-flo cats and Corsa Sports on my C6. Interestingly, I ran lower numbers than VetVetter's (350.9 RWHP / 349.0 RWTQ) on their dyno.

Not to start any arguments over the relative merits of Mustang and DynoJet systems because there are variables such as altitude, temperature, humidity, exhaust system, etc. involved but the before runs on the above configuration on the Lingenfelter DynoJet showed 376.2 RWHP / 375.6 RWTQ before the 403 cid engine upgrade. Afterwards the LPE dyno indicates 470.2 RWHP / 468.2 RWTQ and I am very happy with all the mods to date.

This shop is in Sterling just a few exits past Dulles (coming from Rt 66) - easy to get to and not to far off rt 29.

~800$ for install/shop parts and they prob work some deal for the 2 dyno's ... not discounted I think they are 105$ a piece.

They have done enough C6's now that it's a good insurance policy

Holy crap - nice numbers ... that's where I want to be eventually. Have you done anything to the rear end or drive shaft? If not, I would assume it is handling it ... I guess the conventional wisdom is that up to 500 hp/tq the stock can handle as long as you aren't using drag slicks and racing every weekend.

I guess my next step is to get the car out to Lingenfelter

How big does the hole in the tunnel plate need to be?? What would be required to cut it?? Did the installer have to remove the plate or can it be cut on the car?? TIA

its can be done on the car but easier off the car. ,if you have the exhaust apart you might as well take the tunnel plate off as you'll have a bunch of metal shaving when your done. the hole size is i believe 2". i used a holesaw on a cordless drill. the factory plate is paper thin, itll go thru it like a hot knife thru butter. aftermarket plates such as elite's work too, just take a lil more effort (elbow grease). oh yea and yes you should do it for extra clearance, but most importantly for safe routing of the rear 02 sensor wire extensions.

hope this helps.

GentleBen, I'm in Springfield and will be getting my 06 back from LPE next week. I am also interested in getting the headers and highflow cats installed. Your numbers are great. Can you tell me where you ended up getting your headers from how long they need for the install: can they do it in one day or do you need to drop it off? Thanks, Jeff

Does anyone have PICS of the hole in the tunnel plate? I have the thick aluminum plate with my new LGs ready to install.

I should have taken a pic of it - sorry.

The hole he drilled with a simple drill - it look maybe like 1/2". I only have the stock plate in ... he just drilled it in place right above where )2 sensor is in the pipe so it goes straight up and away from the headers.
