hi, early this week i went to a corvette dealer to see and try the C6, well the key got a sudden malfunction and they couldnt open the car, so the guy had to get in through the back boot and open the doors fm inside but neither the engine started up and even after been trying for more then half hour they couldnt do anything...i dont know if this case ever happened to other c6 drivers or is a known frequent malfunction but of course worried me no little...i just hate these damn electronic extras in todays cars and have tow fresh and recent bad experiences myself, a cayenne S with the blocked on radio had to have dismantled the full dash to reach the 'contact' and off the damn thing and a volvo S40 death because of an electronic key suddenly didnt work and blocked the whole car (3 weeks in the garage to see what happened)...all this brings to my mind a sad thought: why a 'pure' sport car has to rely on all these electronic garbages to switch on? why GM didnt use a simple method like just 'push a botton' or switch a normal key? who the hell is the people planning production and where they've dreamed that a corvette must be put apart because a stupid comp maybe does not 'read' a circuit?????

I've had mine since 11-9-04 and have never had a problem with it unless it was from my own doing (such as not having it in reverse or the parking brake on and draining the battery).
So if I understand you correctly, you left the dealership before they figured out what the problem was? I suppose it could have been as simple as a dead battery, or even a key fob that somehow got accidentally swapped out with another C6 they had on the lot. Just a thought.

That car just had a dead battery. It probably sat around for a while and maybe wasn't even shut down properly. I think it's a really cool feature and I'm glad they put it in. I've had mine 10 months and haven't had one single issue with it.

It's called progress. Try fishing the key to a conventional ignition out of your pocket sometime when your hands are full. I wish all cars were like the C6. Probably some irresponsible acts at the dealership that allowed the battery to go dead.

But you're right, we've even got one of those microwaves, although it's our 3rd one.
If the vette didn't have keyless start, most here would be complaining about being behind the times with a few other sports cars. Go figure.
