What everyone is talking about here is the dimmer switch on the lower left side of the dash. It adjusts the interior lights brightness, but also functions as an on/off switch for the lights. It's easy to accidentally push it in ... and you really can't tell if you did that or not. If your inside lights are staying on, just push that button to shut them off. And yes, it's a very stupid design.
Here's a link to the 2005 manual that was posted in the FAQ section: http://www.c5corvette.org/download/2...s%20Manual.pdf
The FAQ section is a great place to look for general questions. I was able to download the 2006 manual and the NAV manual so I can learn about my new toy before taking delivery. Counting the days to 2/6!
The lights on the mirror are off when the buttons on the mirror are pushed in - lights on when the buttons are popped out. However, the dash dimmer switch will still turn them on and off, as well as the lights on the floor.

SilverCoupe is correct...when the buttons are "latched in", the lights are manually turned OFF...when they are "unlatched out", the lights are manually turned ON. To add a little more clarification, the dash dimmer switch turns the interior lights off, but if a door is open, they don't turn off immediately ...you will have to close the door and wait for the time-out to confirm.
Trying to figure out if the interior lights are ON by the dimmer switch or ON by normal processes has led me to a fool-proof method of determination: In your relatively dark garage, get in the car, close the door...the footwell and other interior lights should remain on. Start the engine...if the footwell lights slowly dim to OFF once the engine is started, they are operating normally. If they remain ON after the engine is started, then they are turned ON with the dash dimmer switch.
I have had some strange things happen with the interior lights when the car failed to recognize that the FOB left the car (three beeps), and I then re-entered the car with the FOB. And, NO, I do not want to bring back the key.
