Default Z06 Bumper Inlet

Was contemplating getting this mod done, both for cosmetic and performance reasons. Is it even functional? It'd just let outer air into the engine or does it connect with an intake somehow? I love the look what do ya'll think?

I've heard that they are non-functional, except for some air flow into the engine compartment.

No connection with the intake system, it's NOT a Ram Air set up. It is mostly blocked off, just a couple of tiny holes in a plate behind the "scoop".

Correct...but wierd. If you look closely at the placement, there's no way the inlet can match up with the air intake. All the breathing goes on at the bottom at the grill.

Even if it could, you wouldn't want it to. In the first place it is too small, and would be a breathing restriction. In the second place, it would duct water right into the intake if driven while raining.
