Default oil changing

How long should I wait to do first oil change? I now have 4500 miles and have not had to add any.

Not sure, mine has approx 1500mi but the oil looks kind of dirty. Think I'll get it changed as soon as the weather gets better!

Change it now.....never hurts to do an early oil & filter change on any new engine.....1,000-2,000 miles. You'll hear from many who say wait until the DIC is down to 15% or 20%, but some conservatism on the 1st change is cheap insurance. While you're at it, get the magnetic oil plug for the C5.....couple of bucks at any dealer & same threads as C6.

Change it now but make sure you use a good quality filter like K&N or Amsoil. It won't matter how good your oil is if your filter isn't filtering out all the contaminants.

Its not that the oil won't hold up on the first change. It will perform the same on the first change as any other. The reason most people change the oil the first time very early, myself included, is to ensure any manufacturing residue that may be partially clogging the filter or being suspended in the oil is removed.

For what its worth, I changed the oil on my C5 Z06 at 800 miles.

I did the first oc at 500 miles. Oil and filter a lot less expensive than engine replacement. Oc every 5k after with Mobile 1 I don't give a rat's a** what the % left number is the DIC is showing.

Yeah, I reset mine too. The flashing " Hey dummy, it's time to change your oil " warning along with the siren howling behind the dash just isn't my thing.

If I went by the DIC the car would have what ?,Like 10,00 miles on the oil!
No way would I think of waiting that long. I think the dealer tells you that changing at 7500 miles is recomended.
The thing is that is how they make money on us in the long run when the motor wears out sooner than normal!
